Hey, I’m David 👋

I’m a bit of an “old man” in internet years. I founded a technology blog in 1998 and grew it into a six-figure, multi-author business. What started as a college hobby became a commercial success through advertising, affiliate revenue, online courses, books, and even a membership site before it was cool.

In 2008, I founded the Blog Marketing Academy with a goal to simplify building an online business and creating profitable blogs—something I’d already been doing for a decade. Since then, I’ve created multiple training programs, worked with thousands of students, spoken at conferences, and helped build countless websites.

Through all those years, one thing became clear: my students could grasp strategy all day, but they struggled with the tech of actually building it. I resisted getting into that aspect for a long time—frankly, I was tired of talking about tech after doing it for so long. 🤪

But around 2021, I decided to loosen up. I began offering services to help students actually build what we were discussing in articles, courses, and videos. Over the next couple of years, this evolved into an almost complete pivot.

Today, the Blog Marketing Academy remains a source of training on both business and tech—but I no longer focus on selling courses as my primary revenue. The business has transformed into a WordPress service agency, with Concierge as our flagship offering.

I’m a big believer in keeping business human, in transparency and staying personal. I also believe in using modern tools to scale and serve better. We’re based in sunny Tampa Bay, Florida. I love camping and traveling in our RV (I’m a bit of an RV nerd), and I’m most at home in shorts and sandals, sitting in a folding chair at a campsite, smoking the occasional cigar.
